城巴賺5000萬回贈乘客年初一開始(至11年5月2日)
城巴昨宣佈，下周四農曆年初一至5月2日的三個月內實施兩項優惠，持八達通乘搭24條長途專營線即日回程八折，另所有專營共84條路線同一天的第二程，不論是否回程，一律減兩元。新世界集團擁有城巴及新巴，去年均錄得盈利，今年內不會申請加價，城巴更實施額外優惠回贈乘客。城巴解釋說06年實施的可加可減機制，訂明准許利潤上限是資產淨值的9.7%。巴士公司賺錢若超過上限，可保留一半撥作公司盈利，餘下一半則須回贈乘客，當回贈數額累積超過巴士公司一年總收入的1%，便要在下年度以票價優惠回贈乘客。
城巴1993年接管中巴26線的專營權一，以及其後新增的路線專營權二，去年總收入分別逾12.6億元及3.6億元，扣除9.7%的准許利潤後，仍出現額外盈利8,000多萬元及1,600多萬元，即多賺6.6%及4.4%。按機制城巴可保留多賺的一半，即逾5,000萬元額外盈利，另一半則回贈乘客。城巴又說，錄得盈餘超額的原因是接管中巴後大量購入約700輛新車，至今折舊幾乎令資產淨值變為零，加上去年油價稍回落，令資產淨值的基數大降。用八達通才有優惠
城巴決定提供兩項優惠，23條以9字頭為主的專營長途線，收費逾16元，在三個月優惠期內，一天內回程八折，即最少扣3.2元。八達通原有轉乘優惠可同時享用，先扣轉乘優惠再八折。
所有專營共84條路線在同一天內乘搭第二程，則可扣減2元。所持八達通若有其他優惠，亦會先扣其他優惠後再減2元。
城巴提醒乘客，即日的意思是當日凌晨3時至翌日凌晨2時59分。每個第一程與第二程之間，所用同一張八達通，不能有超過9次交易。小童和長者可享半價優惠外，亦可再享該兩項新優惠。城巴部份回贈路線
